Round tables on the results of the “Monitoring and Support of Foster Families” project

The SOS Children’s Villages Kyrgyzstan team held round tables dedicated to the results of the project “Monitoring and Support of Foster Families.” The events were attended by specialists, foster parents, and representatives of family and child support agencies. Participants discussed the results of the project and further steps on developing the foster family support system.

The project was implemented as part of the state social order of the Ministry of Labor, Social Welfare and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic. It supported 32 foster families raising 66 children. The project covered Issyk-Kul, Naryn, and Talas regions, and also included Bishkek and Chui region (Sokuluk, Alamudun, Ysyk-Ata).

Project Results:

  • Training and consultations: Specialized training sessions were conducted for foster parents, as well as seminars for social workers and psychological counseling.
  • Creating a safe environment for children: The project contributed to creating a supportive environment for children, ensuring their adaptation and full development.
  • Staff training: Within the project framework, employees of family and child support agencies completed courses and seminars aimed at improving their qualifications in the field of foster family support.

Future Plans:

  • Increase the number of specialists to support foster families.
  • Ensure regular training and professional development of specialists.
  • Ensure accessibility of psychological assistance for foster parents and children.

The project has been extended until 2026, which will allow continued work on creating a sustainable support system for foster families in the Kyrgyz Republic.
