President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Jeenbekov met with representatives of the business community

On September 17, 2018, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Sharipovich Jeenbekov met with representatives of the business community of Kyrgyzstan at the State Residence “Ala-Archa”.

It was the first meeting of the President with the representatives of business in order to discuss issues of the country’s economy, the state of entrepreneurship, pressing acute problems and solutions. The meeting was attended by the leaders of business associations, private entrepreneurs, and heads of state bodies.

Zarina Chekirbaeva, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic, was invited to the meeting, where she raised the issues related to free economic zones and construction in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Zarina Chekirbaeva proposed to develop a development strategy for the FEZ, which will set out ways to modernize the industry and improve the export structure, attract foreign capital and technology, and create new jobs, as well as other issues.

As far as the construction sector is concerned, Zarina Chekirbayeva noted the problems of the industry as a complex and bureaucratic process of obtaining permits, lengthy process of issuance of licenses and permits, a large number of inspections by government agencies and unreasonable separation of institutions in the construction industry. In addition, Ms. Chekirbayeva voiced recommendations for the optimization of the permit system in the construction industry based on the principle of “Single Window”, the optimization of the system of state control and supervision, and others. The President asked to submit the above problems and solutions in writing to the Presidential Administration for further consideration and resolution of the issues.
