Fifth Kyrgyz-Czech Business Forum

The fifth Kyrgyz-Czech Business Forum was held on October 17, 2018, in Bishkek, whose organizers included the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kazakhstan and part-time in Kyrgyzstan, Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Czech Republic, the Czech Export Bank, and the American Chamber of Commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic. The Forum was attended by over 90 representatives of the business communities of Kyrgyzstan and the Czech Republic.

Among the speakers were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Ms. Eliška Zhigova; Head of Investment Policy Department of the Ministry of Economy, Kanat Abdrakhmanov; Director of Foreign Economic Policy Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Mr. Martin Pospisil; Director of Investment Promotion and Protection Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Shumkarbek Adilbek uulu; Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic, Ms. Zarina Chekirbaeva, and Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Kyrgyzstan, Mr. Marat Jaanbayev,. 12 Czech companies representing such sectors as agriculture, construction, engineering, biogas production, nuclear, solar and hydropower and information technologies, took part in the Forum.

Aside from the B2B meetings, Czech Export Bank (ČEB) gave a presentation, where detailed information was provided on the possibilities of lending to business projects in Kyrgyzstan through the ČEB. To date, ČEB has financed over 20 projects in Kyrgyzstan for an amount in excess of $500,000.

The Kyrgyz-Czech Business Forum has become a unique platform that allows the business communities of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Czech Republic to explore new opportunities for cooperation. Over the past two years, Czech business started developing more actively in Kyrgyzstan and the number of large investment transactions is growing. The export structure is becoming more diverse, its coverage is expanding: from supplying regular equipment to complex IT solutions, small hydropower plants and many other complex engineering projects. Since the first Forum held in Bishkek in September 2015, it has become a platform for exchanging ideas, making deals and creating new partnerships.
