The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic signed a decree approving the Concept for the Development of the Creative Economy in Kyrgyzstan for 2022-2026

The American Chamber of Commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic (The Chamber) is pleased to announce that the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov signed a decree approving the Concept for the Development of the Creative Economy in Kyrgyzstan for 2022-2026. ⠀

This initiative has been promoted by the Chamber together with the Alliance of Creative Industries since the beginning of 2019. On February 2019, at the American University of Central Asia, on the initiative of a number of partners of the Chamber, a round table was organized on the topic “Creative Central Asia. New Model for Kyrgyzstan’s Economic Growth”. It was the first major event dedicated to the development of the creative economy in Kyrgyzstan. The activities of the round table were supported by research and analytical materials, which made it possible to see the possibilities of this direction and the scale of influence on the country’s economy. ⠀

The concept of the development of the creative economy in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2022-2026 was developed and adopted by the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in order to create favorable conditions for the development of the creative economy and the implementation of the National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2040, approved by Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic of October 31, 2018 No. 221. The state paid a special place to the creative economy in the National Development Program of Kyrgyzstan until 2026, taking into account modern world trends in this area. ⠀

The goal of the Concept for the Development of the Creative Economy is to increase the contribution of creative industries to the country’s economy through the formation of an integrated state policy. The creative economy forms an attractive investment climate, contributes to the growth of the national gross domestic product, stimulates innovation and the transfer of knowledge in all sectors of the economy. ⠀

Creative economics or knowledge economy is a special sector of the economy based on intellectual activity. Creative industries are areas of business that through innovative solutions, the introduction of new technologies, inventions, satisfy the consumer need of society. In recent years, the creative economy has been one of the most dynamically developing sectors of the global economy and in many countries already accounts for a significant share of exports. ⠀

Kyrgyzstan has a comparative advantage for the development of the creative economy due to the higher degree of freedoms and less restrictions in the production of information products. In the future, it is the creative sector that can provide the production of a national product with a high additional value, which has the potential for export and regional development. ⠀

The team of the American Chamber of Commerce will be pleased to assist in the implementation of the strategic documents adopted by the President and the Cabinet of Ministers and to help to unleashing the potential of the creative class within its capabilities.
