On October 9, 2024, the online event “Compliance Retreat Pre-Event” took place, organized in collaboration with the Institute of Certified Compliance Specialists. The event became an important platform for professionals in the fields of compliance, business, and law, as well as for experts in cross-border regulation and sanctions risks in Central Asia.
Special attention was given to the discussion of sanctions bypass schemes through Central Asian countries, identifying issues related to legislative gaps, and the specifics of cross-border compliance. Experts shared practical examples from their work, revealing the mechanisms through which companies can circumvent international sanctions. Additionally, an analysis was conducted of existing gaps in the legislative systems of the region’s countries, which sometimes hinder effective counteraction to such schemes.
The discussion emphasized the importance of improving national legislations and enhancing interstate cooperation to strengthen business resilience and ensure compliance with international norms amid global sanctions.
