U.S. Central Command awarded contracts worth of $290,000 since the beginning of 2013 in Kyrgyzstan

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) awarded contracts worth over $290,000 of goods in Kyrgyzstan through the Portal to Kyrgyz Business Project implemented by AmCham under the support of the USAID Local Development Program. According to AmCham Executive Director Almaz Dushembiev in January-February of 2013 CENTCOM awarded contracts to Kyrgyz companies for the delivery of textiles, computer accessories, and furniture worth $296,000 to Afghanistan.

The Portal to Kyrgyz Businesses actively involves companies in Kyrgyzstan and connects with more than 4000 companies that may participate in USG contracting authority tenders. As Almaz Dushembiev has noted, the Portal to Kyrgyz Business Project has generated interest from various Department of Defense contracting authorities for continued financial support and possible expansion to other Central Asian States.
