The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is the development branch of the U.S. Government.

In the Kyrgyz Republic, we partner with the people and the government to improve the country’s economy, governance, health, and education so that families can live better lives.

To create jobs and improve salaries, USAID works with Kyrgyz businesses to increase sales. This includes improving their business skills sets, expanding production, and accessing new markets, both domestic and internationally.

Through more than 50 agricultural partnerships involving local companies and smallholder farmers, USAID raised over $30 million in private sector resources creating new jobs and opportunities in historically marginalized regions of the country.

Last year, for every $1 invested by USAID, over $7 were raised in private capital and expertise. This benefitted over 30,000 farmers in regions with the highest rates of poverty.

We also support the development of international tourism to Kyrgyzstan. USAID is a driving force behind a large number of new tourism products like urban walking tours, foodie tours, and family dinners focusing on regional and ethnic specialties.

The development and active promotion of tourism contributed to Kyrgyzstan being listed in the top ten travel destinations for 2019 by Lonely Planet.
