First meeting of AmCham Working Group under the Ministry of Economy on improving the business environment in the Kyrgyz Republic

The First meeting of AmCham Working Group under the Ministry of Economy on improving the business environment in the Kyrgyz Republic took place on July 12, 2019.

The meeting addressed a number of issues raised by AmCham members, such as 1) the absence of a signed agreement on avoidance of double taxation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Armenia, 2) extension of grace customs period for vehicles, 3) possibility to consider disputes with state bodies in the International Court of Arbitration, 4) objections to upgrading the penalties for violations of antitrust legislation, 5) introduction of statutes of limitation in labor disputes for reimbursement of wages, and 6) removal of barriers for the technological cluster in Kyrgyzstan.

The Minister of Economy Mr. Mukanbetov and his staff members reported to the participants on the current status of all issues raised, and plans were made with regard to further actions required. In order to efficiently solve the issues of the business community, meetings of the Working Group with the Minister will be held monthly.
