FINCA BANK RECEIVES THE COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
Recently the awards ceremony took place within the framework of the annual meeting of the members and partners of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic. The awards were intended to celebrate the Amcham members’ excellence and recognize their accomplishments in the following seven nominations: “Excellence in innovation and technology award”, “The most exciting product of the year award”, “Community service award”, “Amcham service award”, “The Executive of the Year”, “Entrepreneurship award” and “The Best company to work for award”. Though the nominees were very numerous, FINCA Bank won the “Community service award” for its significant contribution to the development of Kyrgyz society.
Along with its mission to alleviate poverty through lasting solutions that help people build assets, create jobs and raise their standard of living, FINCA Bank carries out activities of public importance. Its attention is focused on ordinary people who need help in develop their businesses; FINCA Bank provides this assistance by delivering training and creating new opportunities for the improvement of living standards and building better future.
Thus, FINCA Bank promotes the rise in people’s living standards through the long-term financial literacy project. The Financial Literacy is a comprehensive educational program, directed to raising awareness and expanding people’s opportunities by means of using various methodologies and tools.
The largest project initiated by FINCA Bank started with trainings focused on prevention of over-indebtedness and raising awareness of the population in the field of financial literacy, particularly, in lending issues. Nowadays the project covers the development of the culture of savings, cultivating the skills of adequate management of one’s finance and budget. Up to date, more than 1,200 free trainings have been delivered to more than 26,000 people. By creating the culture of reasonable distribution of money and savings among the population, FINCA Bank strives to lay the foundation of knowledge for working with financial institutions.
FINCA Bank also provides other social support to the population by means of such projects as the support of pre-school education, general education institutions, orphanages, medical institutions, the Good Neighborhood project directed to the improvement of territories surrounding the bank’s offices.
