USG Alumni Reunion 2019


On April 26, 2019, the American Chamber of Commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic, with the support of the Embassy of the United States of America in the Kyrgyz Republic, held an Annual Meeting of graduates of exchange programs funded by the US Government.

The general list of exchange programs includes over 50 programs for high school and university students and professionals. Among them are Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX), Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD), Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program, Media Co-Op, SABIT (Special American Business Internship Training), Open World, Summer Work and Travel Program, US-Central Asia Education Foundation Enterprise Student Fellowship Program (US-CAEF), Teaching Excellence & Achievement Program (TEA), TechWomen and many others. At the moment there are about seven thousand graduates of exchange programs funded by the US Government.

The theme of this year’s alumni meeting was “Shaping the Future of Business in the Kyrgyz Republic: Evolution of Entrepreneurship”. This event was an excellent platform for meeting new and old friends among alumni, establishing new professional connections, exchanging and sharing business ideas. Over 200 graduates from Bishkek and different regions of Kyrgyzstan attended the Annual USG Alumni Meeting, among them were entrepreneurs who run or plan to open a new business, representatives of government agencies, and the donor community.

The honorary speakers of the Annual Graduates Meeting were Mr. Donald Lu, US Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic, Elvira Surabaldiyeva, Deputy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dr. Andrew Kuchins, AUCA President, and specially invited guests from the US – Ms. Victoria Silchenko, one of the leading experts on alternative financing in the US, and Walter Russell Mead, publicist and columnist for the Global View in the Wall Street Journal, professor of international relations and humanities at Bard College.

The participants of the event exchanged ideas on launching new businesses, attracting investments and introducing new technologies. Graduates participated in interactive discussions and sessions from prominent businesspersons of the Kyrgyz Republic, including Edil Azhibaev, Founder and CEO picVpic Ltd, Veronika Yurchenko, Head of Attractor Software, Dinara Ruslan, Development Director Zensoft, Tilek Akhmatov, Director of Digital Development Beeline, Amman Tentiev, Managing Partner of Tech Farm, Umbriel Temiraliyev, Managing Partner of Tredstone Capital Partners, Cholponbek Zhumashukurov, Managing Partner at Highland Capital, Dastan Omuraliev, General Director of Ecoproduct Asia, Zhamilya Imankulova, Founder of Ecomade, Joomart Joldoshev, Founder/Managing Director Jomart & Co, Nazira Beishenalieva, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asian Bank, Dilbar Ashimbaeva, Creative director DILBAR Fashion House, Kurman Joldosheva, a leading YouTuber, Azim Azimov, Founder of “Media Kitchen” Studio, Daniyar Amanaliev, Co-Founder and CEO of the ololo group of companies.

During the reception, following the official part of the program, the participants had the great opportunity to network and listen to live music from Salt Peanuts.
